As our president and CEO said, “While we are living during an important time in history, this is much more than a moment – this is a movement.” H&R Block is taking action. Read more about our commitment to advocating for and creating racial equality here: http://hrblock.io/Equality
Racial injustice isn’t new or limited to the names on the news, it’s everywhere. Our black associates recently shared personal stories that were infuriating and heartbreaking. It’s time for new stories and we’re committed to being part of it.

"During all this change, I have witnessed one constant, the passion our tax professionals have for serving clients. It’s their dedication and passion to help that continues to inspire me every day. H&R Block’s tax professionals create our human advantage." Karen Orosco, Senior Vice President, U.S. Retail
H&R Block associates are passionate about our purpose to provide help and inspire confidence in our clients and communities everywhere. It is our culture. It shows up every day in our work and it especially shows up when the normalcies of life are disrupted. While the pandemic is unlike anything we have experienced in our lives, the passion of H&R Block’s tax professionals is on full display. Here are just a few of the inspiring stories from our associates.
We recently celebrated International Women's Day by thanking all of our hard-working female associates. According to Catalyst Inc., 29% of senior management roles in the United States are held by women. We’re proud to be a workplace that works for women.
Last week was Employee Appreciation Day, and we shared how we're grateful for every single one of our 80,000 associates every day. For… Finding green, wearing green. Teaching, achieving. Opening early, working late. Serving, accepting. Crushing goals, crunching numbers. We appreciate you for all you do.
H&R Block celebrated Black History Month throughout February by saluting the achievements of African Americans, including our own associates, who help shape our company culture. Two of our leaders, Calvin Ricks and Nathaniel Newbill, recently shared their perspectives on journeying to success. Each shared how they’ve benefited from the guidance and support of others and how they both seek to have the same positive impact on making H&R Block a place of success for everyone – a place of belonging. We’re honored that the experiences of our associates reflect the diverse culture that contributes to who we are as a company. As such, we’ll continue to promote education and encourage conversations that cultivate a diverse and inclusive culture.
In February, H&R Block, along with other leading companies who signed the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion Pledge, hosted a “Day of Understanding” designed to drive meaningful conversations and explore our unconscious biases. We recognize the importance of taking the time to connect, talk, and listen so we can better understand each other and explore our blind spots and unconscious biases. The day was part of our larger Belonging@Block efforts which focus on fostering a culture of inclusion. Through these efforts, we will continue to take action to ensure everyone has a deep sense of belonging while using our similarities and our differences to help make each of us and our communities better!
