"At its core, Herman Miller is a company focused on people. Every employee contributes their own unique, valuable point of view, and we're honored to stand with the growing list of companies who embrace this diversity.”
Building strong communities by reaching out to support those in need is one of Herman Miller’s most deeply held values. So this December, for the 21st year in a row, Herman Miller partnered up with leading architecture and design firms to bring cheer to more than 6,000 kids in almost 30 cities across the US and Canada. As part of our We Care program, volunteers from HOK, Perkins+Will, Gensler, Herman Miller, and other design leaders threw parties from Vancouver to Virginia Beach to help youngsters make holiday gifts, ornaments, and revel in holiday fun.
Herman Miller’s culture of wellness gives everyone a chance to manage their well-being and to healthfully integrate their work and their lives. Our programs run the gamut from one-on-one, on-site nutrition classes to mindfulness classes to organic food delivery service to emergency backup childcare and elder care, to reimbursements for bikes, weight-loss programs, and gym memberships.
Our people are at the center of all we do. Because people are more effective and engaged when they bring their whole selves to work, we design everything from our benefits program to our facilities for physical, emotional, and financial well-being.
We're honored to have received the Rising Star Award from the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency for the work of our Veteran Inclusiveness Resource Team related to recruitment and hiring. Learn more about our IRTs and how they help create a workplace where everyone feels valued.
The opportunity to build relationships with leaders, mentors, other interns, and coworkers who are invested in their success is just one way our summer interns become a part of the team at Herman Miller. Hear what our former interns have to say.
We believe internships are about more than just work. Each of our interns receives a one-on-one mentor, attends networking sessions with executives, and works on a collaborative intern project so that they end the summer with a foundation for the future.
We show our commitment to the LGBTQ community in everything we do. For example, we host an employee resource group, we helped to found the West Michigan LGBT Chamber of Commerce, and our CEO sits on various diversity committees. For the 11th consecutive year, we have been named a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index.
Our mandate to work as stewards of the environment came from our founder, D.J. De Pree, in 1953. Now, 64 years later, with thousands of products under our belt and as one of the pioneers in LEED-certification, we’re still on the journey to design for a greener tomorrow.
On the journey to landing your dream job, there is no substitute for real-world experience. Our summer interns work on projects during their 12-week internship that solve problems and make a difference at Herman Miller. Learn more, http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQHbY
