Working from home isn't the same for everyone so don't make the assumption that it is. While for some it's a welcome sanctuary to do some focused work, for many it's lonely or full of distractions. Going into an office gives us all that social connection which reconnects us to our organisations and sense of purpose. Read about the myths that we've identified about the post-pandemic workplace:
We’re excited to share that Herman Miller has been ranked on Investor's Business Daily's 50 Best ESG Companies—a list of top stocks for environmental, social, and governance values.
At Herman Miller, we’ve spent the last century defining and redefining modern design. And we’ve spent the last year defining our purpose as Herman Miller Group. We landed at the intersection of our core expertise in problem-solving design and our passion for serving people: Design for the good of humankind.
With help from Logitech and other partners, we’ve adapted our Intent Tables to connect patients receiving care with loved ones who can’t visit them as a result of COVID-19. This solution was developed for Beaumont Hospital near Detroit and could soon be more widely available.
We’re helping a government agency tasked with managing COVID-19 testing and contact tracing improve the productivity of its Albuquerque, New Mexico facility. As states move toward reopening their economies, efficiency in these processes will be key.
Herman Miller teams are applying their design know-how and just-in-time manufacturing expertise to help people around the world rise to meet this moment. As a design company, we may not be able to produce and process test kits ourselves, but we’re working one California lab to fast-track a 10,000-square foot expansion to keep up with increased COVID-19 testing. We’re committed to getting them up and running in just a few weeks. At Herman Miller, that’s the difference we can make.
Last month a hospital in Texas reached out to us for help opening up another floor to increase capacity in anticipation of a surge in COVID-19 patients. Thanks to our dedicated manufacturing teams, who have continued to safely serve critical infrastructure clients throughout the pandemic, we fast-tracked their order of nurses’ stations and got them up and running with spaces and products that can flex—allowing the hospital to focus on what's most important, their patients. At Herman Miller, that’s the difference we can make.
Earlier this week, our CEO and President, Andi Owen, joined a panel to discuss the steps government, businesses, and other leaders are taking during the COVID-19 crisis. They talked about protecting and growing the trust that's needed to navigate this crisis, reopening responsibly, and rebuilding the social contract in a post-COVID society, all based on Edelman's recent update to their Trust Barometer.
Every year, Diversity Inc recognizes companies with a strong commitment to workplace diversity and inclusion. We’re honored to be included this year’s list of Noteworthy Companies based on our recruitment efforts, employee development opportunities, leadership accountability, and supplier diversity.
We’re proud to share that Herman Miller has been listed as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2020 Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for the 13th year in a row. “This recognition underscores our commitment to create an equitable environment for all employees so they can contribute to their fullest,” said Leander LeSure, Chief Human Resources Officer at Herman Miller. “A diverse and inclusive workplace enables us to attract, develop, and retain the best global talent and deliver innovative products and services to our customers.” Illustration by Charlotte Trounce
