Living Donors' lifesaving generosity can benefit a family member, friend or someone they don’t know at all. Nena J. recently donated one of her kidneys to a colleague in memory of her late father. "When my father’s kidney disease worsened, I offered to donate one of my kidneys. Unfortunately, he wasn’t a candidate for a transplant. Not being able to help him broke my heart and I always felt like there was something more I could do. When a close friend told me one of her friends needed a kidney, I told her I signed up to be a living donor and that it would be an honor to help someone she cared about. After connecting, we realized we actually knew each other - she too worked at Inova! Knowing that I was able to give a fellow colleague a chance for a better quality of life – well, there are just no words."
