We are excited to add four Moxi The Robot assistants to support nursing teams at MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital and Mary Bridge Children's Hospital. Four Moxi robots have been delivering lab specimens and getting supplies at MultiCare Deaconess Hospital in Spokane since January. They’ve already proven themselves a valuable partner. From Jan. 26 to May 15, Moxi robots spent 6,162 hours making 9,955 deliveries, saving staff 4.92 million steps or 1,695 miles. Later this summer, Moxi will join teams at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup.
For more than 16 years, Keja Belich has been working in MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), caring for babies born prematurely or with serious health conditions. Her role as charge nurse includes a variety of responsibilities, including: charge nurse, coaching resident nurses, attending deliveries and placing peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC) as a member of the PICC team. Keja always wanted to work in health care, but her career path was crystallized while shadowing a nurse in the Tacoma General NICU who was taking care of a premature baby weighing just 1 pound. “That day changed the course of my life,” Keja shares. “I requested to do my senior practicum at the TG NICU, applied for a position in the NICU residency after graduating and have been working in our awesome unit ever since. I hope to work in this unit for the rest of my career.”
MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital has one of the busiest emergency departments in the state. Charge Nurse Jarae Goldsby has worked in the Good Samaritan emergency department for nearly 20 years, thriving in the fast-paced environment. “I began in the emergency medical services world volunteer fire fighting and working as an Emergency Medical Technicians-Basic serving our community,” Jerae says. “I truly love the spontaneity of both jobs and look forward to helping people during crisis.” For Jerae, the beauty of working in the ED is two-fold: no day is ever the same and she gets to work with a great team. “I love everything about my job; the teamwork, the challenge in figuring out how best to help patients in the most efficient and safest way possible, supporting my teammates in every way possible to make their day the best possible and providing our community with the best care.” Thank you, Jerae, and the many nurses who work hard every day to care for our community.
National Nurses Week celebrates our nurses who go above and beyond every day to provide compassionate care to patients and families who rely on MultiCare. It’s with their dedication that we fulfill our mission of partnering for healing and a healthy future. Happy Nurses Week!
