SSM Health has been named one of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Women in 2023 by Newsweek. The list is based on a large study and a survey of a sample set with more than 37,000 women, working in the U.S. for companies that employ at least 1,000 employees. The study collected, in total, more than 224,000 company reviews of companies in the U.S. that employ at least 1,000 employees, across all industry sectors. According to Newsweek, companies were ranked the highest on criteria like "compensation and benefits," "work-life balance" and "proactive management of a diverse workforce." Newsweek and data firm Plant-A Insights Group weighted the responses from women who are single mothers and/or in leadership positions to reflect this facet of the workplace and scored companies where women make up a significant share of the management board or are female founded. Newsweek has named SSM Health as one of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity 2023, following a large-scale independent survey conducted by Plant-A Insights Group. The survey assessed the culture and working environment of companies with at least 1,000 employees and recognized those that employees say really respect and value different kinds of people. Value for diversity, equity and inclusion has been at the core of SSM Health since our founding Sisters arrived in St. Louis 150 years ago and began providing hope and healing to all those in need. As their ministry expanded, St. Mary’s Infirmary in 1933 became the nation’s first Catholic integrated hospital for African American patients, physicians and nurses. As we continue to fulfill their legacy, SSM Health remains committed to flourishing a culture that promotes the individual dignity and well-being of all team members, patients and people in the communities we serve.
