Company values are paramount at Signifyd. Each month, we name an employee the "Values VIP" for exemplifying a specific company values. They receive an engraved Signifyd Values VIP trophy and a lifelong spot on the Wall of Fame in our San Jose HQ! For the month of March, the value we focused on was “Design for Scale.” Niall O'Hagan, Principle Software Engineer in our Belfast office, definitely embodies this every day through his work. He is regularly recognized for his contributions in swiftly building major new features for merchants that allow us to serve them better in the future. Thank you for all you bring to Signifyd, Niall!
Signifyd Head of HR Emily Mikailli writes about the challenges in building a diverse workforce and about the recent success Signifyd has had in moving in the right direction. You can read Emily's piece on the Signifyd blog. Also, look for her four-part video series on Signifyd's LinkedIn page, in which she talks about building gender equity, including the business case for it. http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQoeW
We celebrated Diwali with a feast, some Bhangra dancing, traditional finery and, of course, lights. The riotously colorful celebration was a great day to reflect on our good fortune, both as individuals and as a company. And did we mention there was food? It was definitely worth mentioning again. While our customers have been in the midst of their holiday seasons for weeks, Diwali was a joyous way for us to kick off the series of holidays we'll celebrate with our families and at Signifyd from now until the beginning of the new year.
Usually moving day is a drag. But we had a great time christening our new all-hands area today. We’ve been spreading out as we grow — onto a new floor and into a new building next door. A few other firsts, as we reviewed our progress in the last quarter and our ambitions for quarters to come: Our two new colleagues from our London office were at HQ for the first time, as were members of our European fraud team based in Barcelona. It’s always good to see far-flung co-workers in person. We can hardly wait to see what firsts this quarter brings — especially now that we know how to find our way to the new all-hands area.
We're just wrapping up Wellness Week 2018, during which we enjoyed some educational lectures — on exercise, nutrition, relaxation —some competition — push-ups, planks, wall-sitting, total steps – and flu shots (enjoy?). Our high-stepper logged 163,192 steps from Monday through early afternoon Friday. We wanted to ask him how, but we haven't been able to catch up with him yet. In all, the Signifyers who participated took 2,857,982 steps, or about 1,429 miles. We're going to take a nap now.
We recently wrapped up Signifyd Gives Back, a week focused on volunteering and philanthropy meant to energize Signifyers to contribute in the ways that we can throughout the year. We were fortunate to serve at Martha's Kitchen and Sacred Heart Community Service, where some of Silicon Valley's true heroes work to offer a hand up to those who are struggling financially in our community. Sacred Heart Community Service served nearly 1,600 people the day we helped in the clothes closet and food pantry. Martha's Kitchen makes more than 400,000 meals a year. We were happy to play a small part in the good work the agencies do. Now on to the next Gives Back week.
