This week, Starbucks welcomed back founder Howard Schultz as chief executive officer. In a letter to partners and in his Open Forum, Schultz shared his vision for the future of the company: “The future of Starbucks, in my view, has to be something like this. We have to reimagine, most importantly the experience for our partners. And what does that mean? It’s not just wage. It’s the environment in the store. It’s the joy. It’s the sense of community, its fulfillment,” he said. Read more about how Howard is reimagining the future in the link below.
Our green apron partners (employees) know our customers and communities best, which is why we look to them for inspiration as we #innovate for the future. Today, we shared new partner-inspired ways we’re reducing waste, including: an innovative reusable cup program, a new waste and recycling app for partners and a pilot program with Volvo to help electrify a driving route from the Colorado Rockies and Seattle. Read how we’re making progress against our 2030 planet-positive goals and what’s to come:
Since the very beginning, Starbucks has been committed to building a culture where everyone is welcome. We’re honored to have been recognized by the Human Rights Campaign again this year as one of the Best Places to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality.
Committed to fostering a culture of inclusion, we are taking additional steps toward our meaningful goals to hire, support and develop our partners. Grounded in our belief that partners are the heart of our company, we are prioritizing advancement programs which provide mentorship and career coaching to Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) partners. Focused on all aspects of our business, we are also increasing our spend with diverse suppliers to $1.5B by 2030. We remain dedicated to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion for our partners and our communities. Learn about more about our inclusion and diversity work here:

Since the beginning, it has been our belief that those wearing the green apron should have the very best job in retail. By continuing to listen and learn together, today we are elevating the partner experience with an announcement of significant investments to wage, training and store operations for our U.S. retail partners. Building on our total pay and benefits package — including paid sick leave, paid vacation, 100% tuition coverage, comprehensive healthcare, childcare, mental health benefits, transgender benefits and more — our most recent investments reflect our continued commitment to creating the best opportunities and experience for our partners.
Calling all former Starbucks partners! You’re invited to join the new Starbucks Alumni Community where you can connect with fellow alums, discover new opportunities and support your local community, together. Even after we hang up our aprons, we are still connected by the green thread. #OnceAPartnerAlwaysAPartner
