In 2020, we treated ~1.5 billion pounds of medical waste, diverted ~104 million pounds of plastic from landfills, safely disposed of ~40 million pounds of unused pharmaceuticals, and recycled ~1.1 billion pounds of paper through our Shred-it secure information destruction service. Stericycle’s MedDrop™ Solution Earns Sustainability Product of the Year Award from the Business Intelligence Group Stericycle’s MedDropTM Solution earns the Sustainability Product of the Year Award from the Business Intelligence Group. Our medication collection program was recognized for its critical role in safely and responsibly removing leftover and expired medications from homes to help prevent drug misuse and contamination in waterways. Since its launch in 2016, the MedDrop solution has safely disposed of over 5 million pounds of consumer medications that could otherwise have been diverted, abused or contaminated community water supplies.
