May recognizes Mental Health Awareness Month, offering us a chance to reflect on the importance of taking care of our mental health, and optimize resources to seek support for those struggling. In this In the Life video, Dr. Morgan Cheatham, Facility Medical Director, Hospital Medicine, shares how her passion for the outdoor sport, adventure racing, has helped offer her an escape through nature. Adventure racing has been a part of Dr. Cheatham's life since 2021. The sport involves a combination of trekking, mountain biking and paddling. Dr. Cheatham says the sport has helped provide her an escape through nature. “This has really been a huge part of my resilience. It’s so quiet and peaceful in the woods and it’s just been a wonderful escape, so I encourage everyone to go get outside. I found it really helpful," she says. Watch her #THInTheLife video here.
Dr. Andrei Cernea, Facility Medical Director, Anesthesia, shares insight about how the demand for ambulatory surgery centers (ASC) has resulted in a sharp increase in the demand for outpatient surgery. In this video, Dr. Cernea says, “TeamHealth is the kind of organization that has a very successful approach to recruiting, they are physician-led and in that way tend to bring in excellent physicians. April recognizes Autism Acceptance month, offering us a chance to raise awareness and encourage acceptance about autism spectrum disorder. In this blog, April Roga, Manager, Contract Management, shares a personal story of her son’s journey being diagnosed with autism. April offers insight on the challenges both her and her son have faced and stresses the importance of celebrating our differences. She says she uses opportunities of distress for her and her son as a means to educate and advocate about autism. “My son is my greatest blessing, and we are spreading a message of hope, positivity, kindness, and grace wherever and whenever we can,” April shares.
A special thank you to Dr. Khadeja Haye, MBA, FACOG, National Medical Director, Acute Hospitalist Medicine, OB/GYN Hospitalist for providing the keynote address during our national session at #NMLC23. As a champion of health equity with a passion for addressing health disparities in obstetrical care, Dr. Haye spoke on the topic of maternal mortality. She leads the effort within the TeamHealth OB/GYN Hospitalist group to educate and prepare clinicians on healthcare disparities in obstetrical care. The goal of this training is to help clinicians identify their own biases with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes while continuing to deliver higher-quality care to all patients. #ForwardTogether

Jonathan Scherl, MD, MBA National Medical Director Acute Orthopedic Surgery recently joined The OTA Podcast to discuss a non-traditional career path to trauma orthopedic surgery.
