“When I applied to Yelp, I had a pretty good understanding of what my strengths were, but I was someone who wanted to learn how to be more assertive and persuasive. I knew that working in sales would help me improve on those skills.” Hear from Jimmy, Associate Director, Local Sales, to learn what career growth at Yelp looks like after eight years on our team! Meet Shanley M, a Senior Elite Account Director on our Local Sales team. Shanley and her team are responsible for introducing Yelp to local businesses and explaining how our products can help business owners achieve their goals. “When I was growing up, I would sell anything and everything that I thought I could make a return on. Right before I applied to work at Yelp, I sold my beat-up car for a decent sum of money, even though everyone told me I should just give it away. I knew right then that I was truly made for sales.” Learn more about Shanley’s #FiveStarCareer on our blog
As a recent college graduate in 2018, Juliana was on the hunt for more than just a job – she was looking to start her career. Over the last four years, she has been a part of our Local Sales team, where she has worked her way to becoming a Senior Elite Account Director. When asked what the most rewarding part of her job has been, she said, “Aside from the incredible friendships I have made and valuable skills I have learned, the most rewarding thing about working at Yelp is the ability to control your financial future with hard work. Being in a commission-based role is daunting, but once you learn that hard work and determination are the keys to success, you are set for life. I start every day knowing that what I put in will be what I get out.” Interested in learning more about Juliana’s #FiveStarCareer? Check out our latest blog post 👇
“My best day at work and in my life was the day I received a promotion to Strategic Account Executive and found out I was going to be a father. I needed to close three deals that day to be eligible to earn that promotion since it was the last day of the month. However, it was the same day that my wife had an ultrasound in the afternoon. Even though I was so motivated to close those three deals and make it to the appointment, there was still a little voice in my head telling me that it would be impossible. I worked hard and stayed motivated, and I was able to bring not three, but four locations over the line and still make it to the doctor’s appointment on time where I heard my baby girl’s heartbeat for the first time.” Andres shares more details about his #FiveStarCareer on our blog. “I love being part of somosYelp. It’s been really great to connect with other Latinx employees across the company. I think it’s important to share our culture within this group and with the company as a whole because it helps to educate the greater team about Latinx culture. I think it’s amazing to work for a company that leans into diversity and creates opportunities to support its diverse employees with programming, support, and education.” Interested in learning more about Diandra L’s #FiveStarCareer?
