I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at AOL (Dulles, VA) in May 2010
Interview
A contracting company contacted me for a position that was a short term contract. The manager at AOL contacted me and interviewed me over the telephone. All went well with the interview and we both decided that there might be a match. The outcome was that they determined that there would be no need for an interim person since the time it would take to get the paperwork completed and all approvals acquired would be another 3 weeks.
The interview process is very quick. I was surprised at how quick it was but everyone seems nice and willing to help. I Just started the process and they are looking forward to moving ASAP.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at AOL
Interview
Multi-faceted and thorough. It was a good chance to check-out the office, meet people with whom I'd be working, learn more about the role, and get a sense of the company culture. The interview process was a bit long, as I met with a number of different people (10+) throughout the various phases.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
To whiteboard a potential solution process for one of their internal challenges.
3 rounds of interviews. First with department leads, then regional leads, then hiring manager. Most people were professional. Questions were appropriate for the job. A little confusion amongst hiring manager. Of course, all people I interviewed with were fired within 6 months of interview.
