I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Verizon in Jan 2011
Interview
Initial interview with corp recruiter (simple PC competency questions), referred to do testing (IQ, call center situations, typing, tech support skills) immediately received results and was scheduled for interview, returned for 1:1 interview and was simple vanilla interview questions about resume and dates of employment, received a call for a QA interview (final interview) which was basically to answer three questions regarding each company of employment (likes, dislikes, something challenging done) very plain and dry. After which I received an offer via telephone and my acceptance would be given electronically. A 3rd party would conduct my background check. (Note: the 3rd party is very slow on their investigation and could delay your employment, days if not weeks, if not months.) Do not lie or embellish anything on your resume or application, if they find even a date incorrect in their investigation they will immediately resend the job offer. I was warned of this multiple times (which was kinda discouraging... like immediately saying "we don't trust you" but just means they mean business).

Interview
After holding the position of customer service rep for almost two years (in good standing) I applied for an open technical support position in my call center. I submitted my resume and got called to take an assessment test to gauge my knowledge on computer hardware and software terms. I was concerned I did not do a good job on the assessment so you can imagine my excitement when I got called in for an interview. The interview consisted on how I would handle customers' technical questions and ask me to also described (in detail) the steps needed to back up a customer's iPhone to the cloud.

Question 1
Explain how you would handle a customer that calls in after their phone breaks down and wants to back up their phone.
Phone interview first, followed by a test you take in office on a computer that evaluates your ability to multitask, then, a month later you get a 1:1 interview with a call center supervisor. A month later, you get a call back with an offer. They use the STAR approach for interviews.
