I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Waddell & Reed (San Diego, CA) in Nov 2011
Interview
The IQ/personality test will give them an idea of whether you'll make it your first year, but they don't put as much of an emphasis on it as other financial advising companies do. I was interviewed by the district manager, who is direct and honest with you. He will let you know if he thinks you'll make it. Don't try to be mr. slick, he will call you on it. If you're humble and give semi-intelligible answers, he'll be fair with you. If you walk in there thinking you know everything and that you're doing them a favor by showing up, he will beat you to the ground(I've seen it). Looking back, the "market surveys" they ask people to do during the interview process was a piece of cake compared to what you actually have to do to market yourself; so if that's a pain for you, you'll probably want to look for a job in another profession.
