      Pros

Solid team, work life balance, beautiful office and well being subsidy

      Cons

Laid off with a day's notice and poor severance package. Received a random meeting titled "business update." No compassion or empathy displayed. Manager didn't even acknowledge it or reach out afterwards. Many toxic people who think they can control you. Leadership doesn't care about your growth and trajectory no matter the effort you put in.

      Pros

High pay compared to market. Some projects have good leaders. Opportunity to learn new skills.

      Cons

Deloitte laid off their higher paid practitioners. Many leaders are not supportive of working parents and replace moms on their team with women who don't have children to accommodate late evening calls. It was a toxic, cutthroat competitive culture where your peers step on you to make themselves look better. After being laid off right before Christmas with a disappointing severance. They denied my request to extend severance continuation to early January.

Your experience at the company heavily depends on the project and manager you are assigned to. My first project was a positive experience, with a collaborative culture and reasonable expectations. However, after being assigned to a project led by a manager based on another continent, the experience changed significantly. Although the company promoted cultural awareness and encouraged teams to discuss preferred ways of working, the project setup did not reflect that approach. Daily meetings were scheduled at 8:00 a.m. with cameras required, which was a major change from the culture of my previous team. He was starting his work at 6 am so he highlighted that this every day daily call at 8 am instead of 6-7 is a compromise, I guess? There was also a strong emphasis on constant availability. The manager openly praised employees for working during weekends based on activity visible in internal tools, while those who did not work outside normal business hours were implicitly viewed less favorably. This created the impression that a seven-day workweek was expected, even if not officially required. Another challenge was the lack of transparency around staffing and employment decisions. Employees often had little visibility into their future assignments, and termination decisions could come with very little notice. I understand that consulting has been facing difficult market conditions and that finding new client opportunities can be challenging. However, the overall experience on this project had a significant negative impact on my well-being. The level of stress was substantial, and it took me a long time to recover after leaving the company.

Do not recommend for experienced hire professionals

      Senior specialist
      Former employee
      Rosslyn, VA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

) opportunities for training and advancement ) learned much about "white glove" presentations ) getting to work with very intelligent people ) getting with the right client/project is probably key to happiness at Deloitte. Spoke with some other Deloitte employees who were really happy on their projects ) good employer for a newbie out of college with no wife/kids. Difficult to see an experienced professional hire being successful or happy at Deloitte.

      Cons

Where do i start: ) First, I will preface that my experience with Deloitte was during COVID. So, I never actually met a single Deloitte employee in person other than when I returned my Deloitte laptop ) awful work life balance. My Sr. Specialist Mgr would call me in the evenings while I was coaching my daughter's soccer team. I was told this was the level of "professionalism" that a career at Deloitte required. Granted, its expected that a professional job is more than 40 hrs. But, work should not be 24hrs a day either ) got stuck working on an old technology platform ) Had a client laptop and Deloitte laptop, each with different meeting booking times. It was expected to be double or triple booked for meetings. Jumping from one to another during the same time was the expectation. Any non-Deloitte person would see this as absolutely absurd ) stuck working with HHS as a client ) poor team morale. Friendly chit-chat such as "how as your weekend" or "how was your vacation" was frowned upon ) amount of training, compliance and paperwork requirements at Deloitte is absolutely INSANE ) Deloitte's SOW for the project I worked on was poorly written, lacking any real detail, and not properly scoped. Very surprising for a firm with Deloitte's reputation. Our project team was expected to figure it out and make it work. This equated to, officially we record all worked time to the project, "wink wink", but don't go over billable budget and get it done.

Laid me off with a day’s notice and offered me two weeks pay after working there 3 years. Don’t expect much from them.
