What is the retirement plan like at Family Dollar Stores?

Pros

Fairly easy to get promoted due to high turnover in most locations, so it can be a good place to build your resume. Most of my coworkers and DMs have been decent people. Most customers are pretty good where I'm at. Competitive benefits packages. Paid time off for full-time employees. 401k match up to 5%(was 4% before 2019).

Cons

Work/life balance for SM and above is often unattainable. Vacation pay became a use it or lose it setup after the Dollar Tree merger. Because overtime is a four letter word, scheduling vacation time for a store manager can be a challenge. Corporate micromanagement makes the simplest tasks more time consuming. Loss prevention policies make it perfectly clear that employees are considered to be potential thieves first and potential assets second. With so many stores in high risk areas, profits from lower risk stores are wasted because money is constantly thrown away for higher payroll and a constant need to send in teams of people to catch up freight/schematics in the high risk stores. The company expects store managers to provide free labor and go to other locations in order to clean up the messes in the high risk stores mentioned above. Not enough payroll is provided to meet expectations consistently. Way too many shippers/displays, clipstrips, etc. which contribute to the stores looking cluttered and disorganized. The distribution centers often load trucks terribly and the company has a hard time keeping drivers because of it. As a lower risk store, our security camera setup is fairly useless. Way too many blindspots for our regular thieves to go do their thing and not enough payroll to police them properly. There should be cameras in every aisle. It shouldn't take an act of congress to switch banks when doing so would save a location several thousand dollars in wasted man-hours per year.

Advice to Management

It would be an exercise in futility to provide any
