What are sales commissions like at GameStop?

Fun customer interactions, discounts, early access, for a students it's a fine enough job, just don't spend too much time here there are better places

Never should be your career, for part time work it's fine enough but they put a lot of sales expectations on their staff with no commission, not very flexible, high turnover-on the management side, very typical retail experience

Environment and workers make the job a “fun” experience

Doesn’t pay proportional to the work needed. No bonus or commission even though our job description and requirements match that of a salesman but get paid like a cashier clerk

- fun coworkers - customers are easy to work with - things I enjoy - accepting of LGBTQ and no discrimination - my manager is great and takes care of business

- serious understaffing - constant calls on my days off about schedule changes - get guilted by management if you call out sick, because they have no backup plan if someone calls out - constantly juggling 10 things at once because you’re working alone - lack of communication - manager is your only contact, there’s basically no way to get in touch with anyone else, including HR - focus and stress on numbers and sales goals, but there are no bonuses or commission - upper management has complete disdain for employees and treats them like expendable numbers, I’ve never seen anything like it

If you like video games, anime ect it can be a lot of fun interacting with customers or your coworkers in the rare moments you aren't busy.

Very little training, very little pay, no benefits beyond a 15% discount and a free pro membership (only if you ask your mananger to set it up for you) and its a Lot of work. Also you cant work full time. A good chunk of the time you are running the whole store completely alone. that includes cleaning, stocking, doing distro, helping customers, making sure no one steals, doing inventory and more. all while corporate breathes down your neck with weekly mandatory sales goals (pros, warranty, extra item attachments, ect) It is essentially a retail position, and a sales position, but you don't get any kind of commission in return.

Coworkers were great, it has some benefits, get to be around tech and games

Management is not the best, pressure to make sales with no benefit or commission, made to feel worthless by customers and management

Fun people to work with and great direct manager, all the staff in store was great

Corporate is absolutely awful, district manager set unrealistic expectations, they treat the job as if it’s sales and they have quotas they want you to reach, no commission even though they act like there is

Discounts on products. Sometimes there’s fun coworkers.
