What are perks and other benefits like at Staples?

      Staples reviews

      Lots to juggle

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Good benefits to both full time and part time associates, easy onboarding process, room to grow outside the store. Pay goes up incrementally during annual review boards based on performance. Regular customers that like your work and good coworkers are the best part of the job. Positions are often available for remote jobs within the Staples job boards, like tech.

      Cons

Very hectic, lots of stuff to juggle, especially ever since they added Amazon returns to the shipping department. Customers often need their hands held through the simplest stuff, even through the self serve machines, so most of your time is spent on small things that make very low amounts of money. Need lots of support from management, so if you have bad management, you will hate your job.

      Terrible Management/Supervisors

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Pay is good compared to other warehouses as well as the benefits. They provide food when business is thriving and have an extremely lax attendance policy if you communicate enough with your supervisors.

      Cons

Management at times seem clueless to what happens in the warehouse which would explain the high turnover rates in regards to entry level workers and supervisors. Nepotism runs rapid on all levels of this organization and it has been that way for many years based on my experience and previous co-workers' experiences. Despite marketing itself as being ethically driven, many of the people placed in charged have engaged in inappropriate relations evolving other Staples employees which has led to terminations and sometimes resignations to save face.

      Avoid if possible

      Business Outlook

      Pros

If you like moving around and using your body this is an alright job. You also get ample time to talk to coworkers if you enjoy that kind of thing.

      Cons

Almost everything else. You're understaffed, they constantly mess up your hours and schedule, machinery is constantly breaking down, the benefits are negligible, management just doesn't care. If you enjoy constantly having angry customers yell at you for something you didn't even contribute to then make sure to sign up immediately.

      Former employee

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Part-time employees are eligible for Dental and Vision coverage. Part-time employees also receive PTO and sick time, an associate discount, and other benefits from the Easy Rewards program.

      Cons

Corporate doesn't give stores a lot of payroll, so you are always doing multiple things at work (manning the register, covering shipping, helping customers on the floor, etc.) Your hours also vary widely. Some weeks, I worked 35+ hours; the next week, I would work 4 hours. Normal retail store, so you have to work evenings, weekends, holidays, etc. My manager constantly scheduled me contrary to my turned-in availability sheet.

      My overview

      Retail/sales supervisor
      Current employee
      Vernon, CT
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Job has good pay and some benefits

      Cons

Management doesn't train you themselves. They send you to another store to get trained and they expect you to know everything when you come back. I've been working here for at least two months and I still don't know everything that I am supposed to know in my role as a sales supervisor. Also, they don't adhere to your availability requests too. I had told the GM that I can't close every week and that I need to open Wednesdays and Saturdays. He either took me off both days or scheduled one opening shift while the rest of the days I worked were closing shifts.
