What is paid time off like at Staples?
Pros
Weekly pay, 30 minute breaks for 6hr or more shift, 40 hrs of PTO each year, 40hrs of sick time each year, 10% discount on all items
Cons
- Unused sick or PTO pay does not carry over each year - No credit, bonus, or commission for any sale; no incentive to sell - Frequent call-in attempts on scheduled days off - Admonishment from management for not learning all material instantaneously - Extremely frequent slander and bad-mouthing of co-workers behind closed doors - Managers berate and insult associates inconsistently - Unequal treatment of associates due to gender - Unequal reprimands of associates - General Manager willfully ignoring numerous and severe complaints about direct subordinate manager - Refusal to pay residual sick and PTO pay after resignation, despite previous affirmation - Several refusals to accommodate for associates with disabilities - Discrimination of associates with disabilities - Prejudice for individuals with certain religious beliefs
Advice to Management
Address unequal treatment of associates by managers, and address complaints made by staff that go ignored due to favoritism.

Does Staples offer massages?
Pros
Great Managers. They never stopped being reliable, honest, friendly and provided realistic / upfront expectations both ways. The other full time employees also provided a friendly work environment. Scheduling time off was never a problem and I can't recall there ever being a surprise or misunderstanding when it came to shifts or hours. I appreciated the company's stance on an employees role in dealing shoplifters and LP over others. The location on Ireland has a lot of options for lunch if you didn't bring anything and the break room would often get stacked with free drinks, snacks and pizza.
Cons
Generally low pay. From what I gathered from long time employees was if you stayed for a very long time you could end up with a more comfortable living than some might expect while essentially staying in a lower/entry level type position if you didn't take any promotions. I think the only aspect I can say I really did not appreciate was that some customers wouldn't pull up to the curb for help packing the boxes of paper in to their car and I did not like having to follow them to wherever they were parked and wait on them to unlock their vehicle then place whatever they were carrying inside and wait for them to get it situated for you to load up the rest. It would be best if they always pulled up right outside but I think they way the parking lot is that wouldn't be possible every time. Also the benefits seemed kind of meh, you could end up receiving quite a lot of money you put in with your payments throughout the year but it required participation in bi-weekly surveys, health journals (like a sleep diary or something) or apps. I resented the process once or twice.
Advice to Management
Keep appreciating employees the way you do. Also know the sense of humor you all kept alive throughout the week was helpful.
