What are perks and other benefits like at Sunrise Senior Living?

You spend a lot of time sitting at a desk that is similar to security.

You have to find your own coverage, and no benefits other than 401k.

The residents, hard working staff, benefits, great training program for management

Always on call, always understaffed, care staff underpaid and overworked. Scheduling- so understaffed had to fill 50-100 shifts a week by begging staff to pick up. MEETINGS.. Endless unnecessary meetings with the rest of the department coordinators daily for over a half hour and once a week a scheduled 3 hour meeting.

Some people generally love the residents and they have been improving slowly but not enough for me to stay another year. I was happy with the pay and the benefits are good.

The management team was constantly changing during my time there. Poor training, but that might change in the future because I was hired post-COVID and they didn't have any other LEM to show me the ropes. They say "all hands on deck" but noticed this philosophy was just them pushing more work on care staff. I felt they lacked advocacy for reminiscence as the residents wouldn't notice their stay had less quality than those in personal care due to their condition.

The residents are truly fantastic. Some of the staff are truly gifted, and great team players. The benefits are amazing, You truly get to make a difference. Vacation time is accumulated for hours worked.

Toxic Management, and corporate micromanaging. High expectation with no way to make them happen. Low budgets, mismanaged property that they refuse to update. Instead they spent thousands of dollars on furniture that is not suitable for seniors. The community is set up as an assisted living but really caters more to skilled care patients, The residents are treated poorly. The staff is burnt out and tired and treat people badly. There is no support in the team, a lot of backstabbing, gossip, and drama. They constantly talk bad about staff in front of residents and family members. The pay does not match the expectations. And they pay men more then women. Sunrise is the most corporate senior living and while they do a lot of things right they only choose to micromanage when it hurts the community versus helping them, They require managers to be on call constantly. Yet they pay 25/hr. They mismanage and abuse staff, who are paid bare minimum to care for patients. The staff have several allegations of abuse which get swept under the rug. There are no standards, no help, no support. They will run you ragged and then bully you for leaving. RUN
