What is the hiring process like at Wegmans Food Markets?

      Wegmans Food Markets reviews

      STLs do nothing

      Front end coordinator
      Current employee
      Gainesville, VA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Employee lunch once a month is pretty nice

      Cons

STLs don't do their jobs, they're always walking around the store, doing nothing. They barely care about their employees, and gossip around the workplace because they genuinely do not have enough of an actual job to do other than be the one in charge when nobody else is around. Serious favoritism in the hiring process in regard to advancement within the company.

      Treats me like family.

great food but not great leadership

      Bakery manager
      Former employee
      Reston, VA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Health benefits are the only great thing offered here

      Cons

-Poor leadership from upper management - lots of gaslighting and not enough support for Department Managers -Expect you to work unlimited overtime for a $5 coupon in return as their thanks -Company is cutting down on labor, causing more stress on the current employees -Politics come into play very heavily as well as the amount of married couples that work in upper leadership that use it to their advantage to snuff someone's career - A very toxic "family" atmosphere - Expanding and opening up new stores has caused a lack of quality in employees, and the blame gets put on department managers for their employees requesting so many medical accommodations - The company is so scared of being sued that they cater to the bad employees and refuse to fire them and blame managers, again, for not being able to work around bad employees -Upper leadership and HR will hold you back from growth opportunities and not give you an actual reason as to why

Short staffed in many depts. Limited hiring due to work hour labor calculations. Which comes down to money.
