Pros
Great big-company name for your resume that carries a perception (though untrue). Great discount (20%). Good title for less experience. You get to keep flight and hotel points if you travel.
Cons
In store development, the environment is toxic. There is no work-life balance and travel expenses are nit-picked with such detail and lack of care for employee that you’ll be forced into a 9pm flight to save the company less than $50. When travelling, you are treated as if you are on company time 24hrs and expected to work 100% if you are not eating/sleeping. While you have a company phone, your coworkers on other teams will not call you, rather, email you (even when traveling) and you will be thrown under the bus if you do not respond within 24hrs. And while you are hammered on, you cannot lose a positive attitude. The kindergarten “write-up” is used actively and this comes with a forfeiture 3 financial items: of half your eligible bonus, stock options and max 2% raise in that review cycle. Negativity is met not with positive responses, but negative ones that only bring you down more. Projects are underfunded and micromanaged, and while you may be told that you have authority and are empowered, that is far from accurate. Schedules are at the will of the company, and weekend travel is expected. Holidays are fixed at 5-total per year, PTO is not great given the lack of sick/holidays, especially if you have kids and WFH policy is limited to two days/week with anything more requiring manager approval, including sick WFH. Benefits are mediocre. No 401k regular match - discretionary end of year that has never exceeded $50 when maxed out on regular payroll contribution. No peripheral benefits (tuition reimbursement/student loan payments/etc). Amazon corporate integration is ongoing and resulting in additional tracking of employees/locations. No upward mobility for growth and salary is low for expectations and salary increases are minimal.
