    Network Management Systems Engineer Interview

    Anonymous Employee in Bedford, MA
    Accepted Offer
    Positive Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took a week. I interviewed at Abacus Technology (Bedford, MA) in February 2016.

    Interview

Good pre-briefing by the HR Representative about the Network Management Engineering position and Benefits. The initial interview was followed immediately by the Technical Interviews. Very professional Interviewers, I was interviewed by two Engineers at the same time; however, I'm used to that and we had a great Technical Discussion about my past work experience, issues I've encountered, worked and solved and how I'd fit in at Abacus for the Engineering opportunities currently open.

Full Stack Developer With UI/User Experience Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in San Diego, CA

    Negative Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Abacus Technology (San Diego, CA) in August 2016.

    Interview

They invited 40+ people on a career day to the office. They extended an invitation to me. Twenty minutes after the planned interview time, they escorted us into a conference room for a 30+ minute group meeting, where the recruiter and CEO spoke to all of us. Then the engineering managers took all the applicants for technical jobs, only 4 of us, where they asked us questions as a group. One engineer flat out told them the situation was entirely unprofessional, and he left the room. They also started the meeting by looking at our resumes for the first time, where they told me that my background was not what they were looking for - an hour into the interview process. I couldn't agree more that this was a unprofessional and unorganized interview process.

    Application

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Abacus Technology in April 2016.

    Interview

About and hour, more or less. A wide range of questions are asked but most are fairly typical for an HR interview. The process is tedious and direct succinct answer are best but it is advised one give the answers they are looking for rather than expressing any kind of candor, that is not rewarded, unsurprisingly; this, in my opinion, is a red flag.

    Interview Questions

    • Who are you? How would you describe yourself? Where do you see yourself in 5, 10 years. How have you dealt with a "difficult" situation in the past? When have you failed? Share and accomplishment you are most proud of. What skill do you wish you possessed? Etc. etc...   1 Answer

    Accepted Offer

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3+ months. I interviewed at Abacus Technology.

    Interview

Initial call came 2 months after application submitted. Spoke with a member of the recruiting team, after which I went to an interview scheduled 3 weeks out. Interview was performed by management of another company, which passed their approval to Abacus. Clearance process performed by Abacus, and was as pain-free as it can be.

    Interview Questions

    • Interview was conducted by the technicians I would be working with, several detailed and tech-oriented questions were presented. Would not recommend going in without a technical background, they will see through it.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

Negotiation was negligible. Their offer was their offer, and that was it.

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Abacus Technology in September 2011.

    Interview

The interview process was very easy and straight forwards. It was conducted via a panel setting. They asked typical PM related questions and were fairly easy to provide a response to. After the interview, I was notified via email from HR that I was being extended an offer to join the company. All in all, it was a very easy and quick process from the time I applied to the time I was offered the position.

    Help Desk Manager Interview

    Average Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Abacus Technology (Denver, CO) in December 2009.

    Interview

Had a brief (30 min) phone interview with hiring manager initially who then arranged an 1:1 interview at a local restaurant (free lunch for me). He spent time focussing on what issues lay ahead for the position he was hiring for and asked for my input/suggestions on making positive changes to an otherwise negative circumstance.

    Interview Questions

    • Customer service has a negative reputation based on past experience by a former support provider. What steps would you make, how would you raise the level of customer service for the organization?   Answer Question

    Negotiation

Original offer was below market value for the position itself. I countered with the fact that I had another offer on the table at a higher salary (which was true). Within the day they came back with an even higher salary.
