      Operations Manager AWS Interview

      Dec 9, 2014
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon in Dec 2013

      Interview

Two phone interviews, one on-site. The on-site consisted of 5, hour-long 1-on-1 meetings with people associated with the position. Ended with an hour with two people not associated with the position at all. Most everyone was courteous except the last two; one seemed to think his job was to sneer and sigh loudly in response to every answer (when his nose wasn't in his laptop that is). They had to scramble a couple of times to find interviewers; apparently they just grab whomever is available to do interviews. It showed. I was not impressed. No offer. Feeling mutual.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      No difficult or unexpected questions.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Amazon (Dallas, TX) in May 2015

      Interview

The review process lasted 4 hours, with 2 face-to-face interviews and 3 video conference interviews. Writing assignment was submitted prior to interview "What is the most inventive or innovative thing you’ve done?" Discussed writing assignment during interview. Lunch session with hiring manager. Casual discussion about operations, culture, key areas of responsibility, view of first 90 days and straight forward comments on what they're looking for. In depth behavioral interview spanning many operational situations. Interviewers took detailed notes (some were heads down on laptop during interview), highly professional organization, showing interest in responses . Focus is on Amazon Leadership Principles.
