I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Arizona State University
Interview
It is a typical hiring process in academia. You are invited for a talk followed by one-to-one meetings with senior faculties and a tour of some facilities and labs. You need to talk about your background, research interest, what research direction you want to take in the next few years and how you plan to obtain funding to support your research.
They send me an email to answer four questions. I replied by the given deadline. But they haven't contacted me since then. I wish they contacted me. Hopefully, I will have another opportunity in another institution so that I prepare well and perform well.
Smooth. It did take time to hear after I applied. Good communication about setting up the interview and follow up. The initial interview was telephone and the second was virtual. I provided a presentation about a teaching topic that was selected by the committee.
I applied online. I interviewed at Arizona State University (Phoenix, AZ) in Feb 2020
Interview
one day interview. first one hour presentation, then one hour with search committee, and then with senior faculty members one by one. roughly 5 hours in total. long but doable.
