      Marketing Coordinator Interview

      Jun 18, 2024
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I interviewed at Burns & McDonnell

      Interview

I applied and was asked to do a pre-recorded interview about a week after applying. Still waiting for them to get back to me for next steps, which I assume would be a virtual interview.

      Marketing Coordinator Interview

      Jun 19, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Kansas City, MO
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Burns & McDonnell (Kansas City, MO) in May 2022

      Interview

I was invited for a one hour in-person interview and was told I would hear back within a week. I was surprised the process would be that fast but thought it could be great. My thank you emails were sent the same day. After not hearing anything for a little over a week, I emailed the primary person I had been in contact with throughout this process to ask about the timeline/status of the job and to inform them I was still very interested. No response. I emailed a similar message to another person on the interview panel who had responded to my thank you email. No response. It has been almost a month since the interview and I have received no form of communication.

      Question 1

I would say the questions were mostly about my skillset and who I am as a person.

      Marketing Coordinator Interview

      Aug 5, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Wallingford, CT
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Burns & McDonnell (Wallingford, CT) in May 2018

      Interview

I was contacted over LinkedIn by a third-party recruiter and he was helpful in preparing me for my first interview. The interview essentially went over the company and what they're looking for--average interview. The recruiter notified me later that I was invited to a second interview, which included an executive. During this interview, the executive asked about my current employer (a smaller civil engineering firm) and how many employees there were with certain titles. At this time, I deduced that they were less interested in understanding my qualifications and more interested in learning the details of my current employer. After the interview, I reached out to the recruiter to ask when I should hear back and he said "today or tomorrow." I didn't hear back from the recruiter after that, despite reaching out again two weeks later. Next, I contacted the hiring manager directly and was informed that I was not offered the position though I'm not sure when this was decided--after the first interview or the second. It is unprofessional to "ghost" candidates as they are looking for work for various reasons and the amount of time, money, and energy put into the preparation for interviews can be considerable. Not long after, my current employer hired a former Burns & Mac employee who told me that I dodged a bullet. Another former Burns & Mac employee (in the same role) corroborated by informing me the time commitment and workload was unmanageable and the environment was toxic.

How many employees are in your company? What lines of business are in your office? How many surveyors, bridge engineers, etc...?
