Anonymous Interview Candidate in Brooklyn, NY
I applied online. I interviewed at Casper (Brooklyn, NY) in Jul 2023
Applied and was immediately contacted by the DM for a zoom meeting. Zoom meeting went well. Was told I would hear back by the end of the week of next steps. Nothing was shared by the end of that week. Follow up email was sent. No answer. Having previous hiring experience, it’s not that hard nor time consuming to prompt the system to issue a rejection email.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Casper in Apr 2023
I’ve purchased Casper’s products before so when I discovered they were hiring junior designers, I went for it. Initially, I was asked to do an interview but then they said they found a candidate; that’s fine. But then each year passes and I saw they want to hire but kept saying I didn’t fit their needs which was strange as their level of work is so entry-level. Last month, they were looking to hire again and a recruiter reached out to me. I referred someone else to do the job because she had the exact experience Casper was looking for and projects that were so well-presented and inline with Casper’s expectations that even the recruiter said it was the best out of all the candidates. A day later, Casper responded back and said they passed on my friend with absolutely no reason given. So the recruiter reached out to me again and this time, I applied to the job and I have much less startup-type experience than the friend I referred. To no surprise, even at my senior 10+ years experience with retail/corporation/DTC design, Casper also passed on me with no reason given too. I don't know what Casper is looking for but good luck to anyone else who has a better experience than we did.

Anonymous Interview Candidate in New York, NY
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Casper (New York, NY) in Apr 2023
Was a drawn out process over 8+ weeks. The recruiter was not very helpful. Met with 7+ people internally. They put the process on hold 2x for the acquisition and a new CMO that I met with who hadn't even started yet. They clearly had no idea what was going on internally. Every one I spoke to on the team intimated it was a nightmare on the inside. Pretty unprofessional and clearly had no intent on filling the position. Lots of mediocrity here in HR.
- Whats your background? Where do you come from, what do yo think of the current brand and creative?
- Do yo mind working with ambiguity? How do you handle when no one likes the campaign? How do you handle difficult internal politics?

One call with recruiter. Another call with Hiring Manager. No technical component in the interview process. All questions were behavioral and asked about previous experience and projects I had worked on.

There were many rounds of interviews, all of which were very redundant and spaced very far apart. I was rejected at the last minute and had to contact them multiple times checking in on the hiring decision.

There was of course an initial interview with the recruiter. After this, there is a virtual interview with VP. The next round would be interviews with technical and leadership staff.

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Casper (Scotch Plains, NJ) in Jun 2022
The recruiter first reached out to me for availability. I was then interviewed by my hiring manager, and then was booked in successive interviews with the rest of the teams that I will work with. I was caught in between holidays, so the process was halted for a good week or two. I had followed up twice with the recruiter when the final round of interviews appeared to be seemingly done. He got back to me saying that they’re just putting together the offer, but it never came. They also didn’t give any other detail or rejection for that matter.
- What are the product management tools you use in your current role?

Met with recruiter for a 20 min phone call, then a 30 min zoom with hiring manager, then a 3 hour panel meeting with various team leaders, and another 30 min zoom with the hiring manager to go through questions I had on the role. Everyone was lovely to speak to and I had a positive experience

I had an initial screening, nothing out of the ordinary. The only qualifying questions were, "can you commute," and "are you okay to work hybrid in the office." Moving on to round two, I was interviewed by the one person I would be managing who A) did not like the company brand, tone, or history and B) was extremely unenthused with their position, or with the direction of the company. It was a dreary interview in which I had to take the lead in order to talk about actual qualifications and skillsets - otherwise he just wanted to talk about Disney (which is on my resume), and magic shows that I used to write (which is on my resume as well) - but not how they were applicable - he just wanted me to break my NDA's. He had a difficult time answering any rebuttal questions, and spent most of the interview on Slack responding to others. It was a dreary, sad, waste of time that was frustratingly out of place.

The interview process was fine but misleading. Rounds and rounds of interviews that waste your time only to be called and told the job was already filled. It would be nice if they were more upfront about that rather than getting candidates hopes up.
