Citizens Property Insurance

Easy Interview
Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Citizens Property Insurance (Jacksonville, FL) in May 2023

Interview

Screening was great -- lady was friendly and knowledgable but then I had to do one of those automated, pre-recorded interviews which are insulting and degrading. I made it through two more interviews after that and was told I would be sent an invitation for a final interview for the next week - it was down to me and one other person. I followed up two weeks later and two weeks after that. I was finally told after chasing them for over a month that they decided they didn't want either candidate after the third interview. That is fine -- but the automated video part and having to chase them down for over a month was quite unprofessional.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Citizens Property Insurance (Jacksonville, FL)

Interview

1st round: One-way video interview, 5 or 6 questions I think. All questions were cybersecurity based and not very difficult. 2nd round: 2 hiring managers from different departments. The interviewers were friendly and asked relevant questions about my experience/education and a few technical questions. Their recruiter then ghosted me and refused to respond when I reached out.

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Citizens Property Insurance (Jacksonville, FL) in Mar 2023

Interview

Prescreen online without any people: basic Java questions via video, a simple coding question. General experience questions, followed by Java questions at random. First interviewer departed the interview early without mention. The second interviewer gave mostly questions on rudimentary Java API. Overall, interview seemed very easy, 6-7 yrs experience. They didn't show any enthusiasm, weren't responsive. In the end, got rejected and felt insulted. They pay very much below the market.

Interview Questions
  • What is a daemon thread in Java? I think the interviewer misunderstood that it's not called a daemon in Java. What is the difference between Comparable and Comparator? Sort a list of Integers using Stream API. Write the code for this. I forgot the name of the Stream API function, but still wrote the write solution.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Citizens Property Insurance (Tampa, FL) in Jun 2021

Interview

I was reached out to by several entities -- in company recruiter and staffing company. I completed a video interview through hirevue, on a recording program. A few days later the recruiter called me to notify me that I was not selected to move forward which I was impressed with because usually you would just receive an email stating that, I thought that was really nice and personable.

Interview Questions
  • It was never specified to answer in STAR method but with my personal experience it is always best to. Most of their questions were pretty straight forward though.

The managers have zero personality and only want to read from a script. They will even warm you that they only have a short time with you and they have to keep to the script - which provides zero questions about the actual position your interviewing for.

Interview Questions
  • I honestly can't remember the exact questions but they had nothing to do with the position.

Difficult Interview
Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Citizens Property Insurance (Jacksonville, FL) in Apr 2021

Interview

There are three parts to the interview, phone, hire view, and Microsoft teams. The phone interview is with a recruiter which was pretty basic, they will ask your salary requirement and availability. The video hire view interview was 11 questions some behavioral but mostly focused on what experience you can bring to the underwriting role. The Microsoft teams interview was 22 questions some behavioral but mostly general questions about how you will handle different situations.

Interview Questions
  • What makes a successful underwriter? Where do you see yourself in 3 years? How will your educational background assist you in the underwriting role? What will be your biggest challenge in the underwriting role? What is risk based underwriting?

Underwriter

I've completed an initial phone screening interview, followed by a 2-hour interview with the Department VP. Next in the process are three separate 90-minute peer interviews. Is there a possibility of another interview after the peer interviews, or should I anticipate receiving an offer?
