I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Datadog (Paris) in May 2019
Interview
I was contacted by a recruter who has viewed my LinkedIn profile to join Datadog Paris.
1° - phone interview with the HR (who works in Boston):
* tell me about you
* can you tell me more about your education? the projects you have done?
* why do you want to become a solution engineer?
2° - phone interview with the team leader:
* tell me about you
* give me a work situation where you had to handle a difficult client
* how do you see yourself in 5 years?
* how do you process to learn a new programmation language?
3° - project (hiring challenge): cloud. It's divided in two parts:
* create a Datadog environment (well explained in the PDF you will receive)
* answer two client questions
The project takes 8-10h to be done. You have 7 days to return it. Take your time to do it and write a good documentation. If you don't, you will not be able to move to the next step.
4° - on-site interview (4 interviews of 45min/1h per interview):
* first interview: two solutions engineers. They explained what the work is. They expect that you present yourself, the projects you've done (ie your resume).
* second interview: two software engineers. Presentation of a project you've done and explanation of the code.
* third interview: coding interview on a white board (using any programming language you want). Two questions:
1° reverse a list.
2° Given a string containing different sentences with keys and a list of keys, find all the sentences which have the input keys in it (all of them) and return a list with the other keys in this selected sentences without any duplicate. They may ask you to give big O precisions.
* fourth interview: team leader. The point is just to give a feedback about the interviews and to get yours.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Datadog (Paris)
Interview
I had a very disappointing experience with Datadog's recruitment process. After making it to the final round for a Solutions role, I later learned that recruiters had contacted former colleagues at my current company to ask for feedback about me. This information made its way back internally, putting my current job at risk. Not only is this highly unprofessional, but it also raises serious confidentiality concerns. I would caution candidates to be aware of this before applying.

I applied online. I interviewed at Datadog (Amsterdam) in Oct 2024
Interview
It had 4 phases: HR, HM, Tech Assessment, Panel.
The tech assessment was made with an online platform, and it was really simple.
In the panel I had to talk about a topic where I was good technically and the interviewers acted like customers making questions etc (be really prepared on that). They payed me all the travel expenses since this last one was face-to-face
