      Solutions Engineer Interview

      Application

I interviewed at Datadog (London, England)

      Interview

Huge time waster and, big warning here, I feel my privacy was invaded as part of their process as my current employer found out about my application. I'll explain at the end. I'm fully committed to spending time applying for any company I'd consider working for but I expect a little effort back. Initially I spent time with a recruiter and talking to an existing employee to get a feel for the place. I spent quite some time carrying out their assignment as quite a lot of it is unfamiliar (like with any new product). I put some real effort into it, doing things a little differently and going the whole hog to implement some creative ways of doing things - not just doing the bare minimum. I actually got to understand what I was doing and not just box check to get to the next stage. After a lot of time spent working away...and weeks waiting I received no feedback. I had to chase just to be given a standard 'unsuccessful' email and no performance feedback at all. When someone spends a days doing your assignments it would be nice to get even a few sentences on why they are not moving forwards. I am not the only one who appears to have had this, so be prepared for it. Finally it would appear that my existing company found out about my application. You see you have to push their assignment using Github and anyone can browse the pushed assignments. Most people, such as myself, have their real names in the assignment and this is visible to all those whom apply. A random person added my manager on Linkedin and informed them that I had an assignment there so I must have applied for Datadog. I found this out months later at a drunken team night out. I have no idea why a person would do this but it appeared someone was/is going through that list and getting kicks out of messing with people's lives. If you are reading this you're a terrible, terrible person. While this is not really Datadog doing this they really should have a more private way of applying.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Datadog (Paris)

      Interview

I had a very disappointing experience with Datadog's recruitment process. After making it to the final round for a Solutions role, I later learned that recruiters had contacted former colleagues at my current company to ask for feedback about me. This information made its way back internally, putting my current job at risk. Not only is this highly unprofessional, but it also raises serious confidentiality concerns. I would caution candidates to be aware of this before applying.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Datadog (Amsterdam) in Oct 2024

      Interview

It had 4 phases: HR, HM, Tech Assessment, Panel. The tech assessment was made with an online platform, and it was really simple. In the panel I had to talk about a topic where I was good technically and the interviewers acted like customers making questions etc (be really prepared on that). They payed me all the travel expenses since this last one was face-to-face

      Question 1

How to embed Datadog tech into the one you explain
