I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Dillard's (Dallas, TX) in Sep 2015
Interview
They called me back pretty quick because they were in need. I got called for working in the children's department. They don't really care if you have sales experience. After they call you back they set up a face to face interview. They next day they called me back to say they will perform a background check and if I passed I was hired. The following week I went to the "training." It consist of watching long videos and after that they put you on the floor to work! There was no real training but to just go with the flow. The employees helped each other out.
Standard interview, quite short (20 minutes) for the first round. Asked about past experience, sales skills, expected pay, and my future goals at the company. Interviewers were very nice and welcoming, made the experience much less intimidating!
Not sure what to expect. When I spoke to the manager it felt very condescending and off putting. The interview was fine but they exaggerated the amount of commission associates can make and didn’t even give me a chance to agree to a job offer just assumed that I would take it. I don’t have very high hopes about how it will be working there. When I came in for my interview one associate didn’t even greet me like she did the last customer and the energy of the atmosphere just felt super dull and soulless. I need this job on my resume as a fashion business student for internships so I’ll push through but not at all optimistic about the work environment.
