      Front-End Web Developer Interview

      May 13, 2015
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Dropbox (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2015

      Interview

A recruiter from Dropbox wrote to me expressing interest in my work and requesting my portfolio and source code. I immediately rushed home to prepare a response only to find that within less than 1.5 hours I received an email stating that were not a match. Assuming this was a mistake I wrote back to the recruiter and attached some works effectively convincing the team to move forward with a code screen. First of all, I was sent documentation for an engineering position --not a front end position. I was told the name of the interviewer who would be conducting the interview only to find out that someone else was interviewing me. The interviewer seemed to have no idea what he was doing. He showed no interest in asking me questions about myself. The quality of the call was comparable to that of a 1980's Motorola cellphone. I had better quality phone calls through a tin can tied to a piece of string as a child. Did I mention halfway through the interview the interviewer hung up on me? Maybe someone severed his piece of yarn landline? Overall if you're looking to work with a bunch of delinquent juveniles interviewing you from inside a garbage can from out back of McDonald's then I highly recommend dropbox. Otherwise look elsewhere.
