      Software Engineering Manager Interview

      Oct 25, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Front in Sep 2021

      Interview

Worst experience. Do not interview with this company, do not take coding exercise. Do not fall for the "nice" act of the recruiter. In general when someone offers you a take home project it really means they want to funnel a lot of candidates with no investment on their part. Bad deal. You will spend more time on the project (more than they say), they will spend 5-10 minutes and reject you giving very vague reasons for it. The coding assignment had a vital piece of info not included which either a bug in their assignment or was done by design. I had to spend extra time figuring it out and debugging their code. Not cool. What did they really learn from it? I don't know. This is a fist company that approached me bragging about their great glassdoor reviews, unfortunately I only glanced at their employee reviews had I clicked on another tab and read interview reviews I would have passed on them right away. It is also suspicious how high their employee reviews are, something is off.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Front

      Interview

The process started quickly after I got started, and I interviewed with 8 people at various levels including HM. After 2 weeks of interviews, I got a positive “moving ahead” response. Recruiter hinted at offer and asked me for references which I provided promptly. They quickly checked references, then there was silence for 3 weeks, followed by “not a fit” email response. They could have gleaned this after a few interviews, instead of at such a late stage. My advice for the company would be to be upfront with candidates about the stages. It also seems like they have too many decision makers in the loop.

System design, management skills. Behavior rounds.
