      Program Manager Interview

      Sep 16, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Gartner in Jun 2022

      Interview

The interview process was unnecessarily prolonged. I spent 2.5 months interviewing for this position which involved five rounds, one project which took me six hours of unpaid time to complete, and six total interviews. The role sounded incredible which was why I was willing to go forward with such a lengthy process, but it was incredibly disappointing to not receive an offer after completing the final round. Round one: typical 30 minute phone screen discussing my background and the role. Round two: one hour video interview with the supervisor. These were more behavior questions and went more in depth into my research and survey experience. "Please tell me about your survey development process" "Tell me about a time that you had a disagreement with a coworker" Round three: an unpaid project. You are given survey answers to three questions and 15 participants and you need to write a two page summary. They said it would take 2-3 hours, but because of the amount of information and me wanting to produce a good summary it took me around 6. Round four: three separate 30-45 minute video interviews. One of the interviewers did not even show up during our scheduled time and did not send a reason until after the interview which was incredibly unprofessional. This round would be much better if it was back to back interviews instead of me having to do them on three separate days. These interviews consisted of similar questions to round two (behavioral and digging into my background). Round five: panel interview with 6-8 people on the call. This is a mock presentation as if you are presenting the summary from round three to the clients who ordered the survey. You have to make a powerpoint presentation (additional unpaid time) and present it. Then, they ask questions from the perspective of the client like (can you tell me more about x subject) and they ask you questions about the process of the project (if you could ask one more question to get more information what would that question be?) That panel interview was on a monday and they said I would hear back by the end of the week. It took them three weeks and multiple follow ups for them to tell me that I did not get the job. The hiring manager then said she would happily refer me to other open Gartner positions, and she said they might have another Program Manager role opening up that I would be in the ring for. After sharing other roles I would be interested in, (and following up) she never responded. All in all, I think the interview process was unnecessarily long, and the hiring team needs to improve their communications.

      Application

I interviewed at Gartner (Fort Myers, FL)

      Interview

The interview involved a super day round which included 4 different interview rounds with various levels of employees over the span of 5 hours. It wasn't too difficult but it was a bit repetitive and took a long time.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Gartner (New York, NY) in Jun 2024

      Interview

Had a phone screen with the recruiter and was invited to a first round, which the recruiter told me would be a behavioral interview with one manager. When I joined the interview, there were 2 managers on the call and the interview was not all behavioral, which I only found out during the interview. There is miscommunication between the recruiter and interviewers, or they intentionally misinform candidates. When the recruiter reached out to let me know I would not be moving forward, he said he would send my specific feedback to me. He never did and didn't respond to my follow-up. It's fine if he doesn't want to offer feedback but why bring it up and lie about providing it? Overall, a very frustrating process with unprofessional participants

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Gartner

      Interview

I was contacted by a recruiter to discuss potential opportunities based on my background. The conversation went really well and the recruiter told me that there was an open role and team I would be a great fit for. The recruiter mentioned twice on the call they would circle back with me the following week and that if I didn't hear anything to be sure to follow up with them directly. After not hearing anything by Wednesday of the following week, I reached out to recruiter. Never received a response, so I reached out again the week after and one final time the week after that. Never heard back from the recruiter on any of those emails. Please do not waste candidates time with false promises and then completely ghost them.
