    Hair Stylist Interview

    Anonymous Employee in Arlington, VA
    Accepted Offer
    Positive Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Hair Cuttery (Arlington, VA) in December 2017.

    Interview

The interview was very relaxed. First a phone interview which consisted of computer generated questions about how you would rate yourself and how you can be successful in the salon. You immediately schedule the technical interview for which i brought all my own implements and used a mannequin. I was asked to do four applications and then a cut, i wasn't watched the entire time so it was very relaxed. The cut was checked at the end and i was offered the position on the spot.

    Hair Stylist Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Brandon, FL
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Hair Cuttery (Brandon, FL) in July 2017.

    Interview

Well the recruiter contacted me and told me the location I applied for was already filled so she set up an interview with the closest HC that was hiring. The closest one was in Brandon which is a town away about a 45 min drive. I accepted in hopes for the job. So I went to the meet and greet for my scheduled time at 10. I waited about 30 mins for her to finish a client. Once she was done she was questioning me that the interview was scheduled at 9:30. I told her I have an email saying 10, and then she checked her calendar and realized it was 10. So we proceeded on to the interview and we got to know each other. She scheduled me for a technical for the following week where I had to bring two models. I went to that did everything I had to do they even complimented me on my haircuts and foils. They said they would give me a call. They never did. I believe they had their minds made up that they weren't gonna hire me before I even showed up because they were whispering and the manager barely spoke to me. It was just a very rude and unprofessional situation. Anyway one door closes another opens. I received a job at a higher end salon in Tampa and I love it. The thing about these low end chain salons are the clients don't respect you because you work there and managers don't care about the employees because there is such a hierarchy in theses salon that it makes the stylist only care about getting into management instead of building their craft.

    Interview Questions

    • Tell me about yourself?
How long have you been doing hair?
Why do you want to work at HC?
How would you up sell to a client that only wants a haircut?   Answer Question

    Hair Stylist Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Abingdon, MD
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Hair Cuttery (Abingdon, MD) in October 2017.

    Interview

First there is a meet an greet and then a technical interview.
At the technical interview I was treated very rudely My model wanted to leave. We got there 5 mins before my time and the manger would not let us in. she told us to wait outside. When doing the technical interview, she did not speak to me or try to make me feel comfortable. I had at least 4 stylists just sitting there watching me and talking to the manager. Also talking about clients. Not professional. Shop not busy. The manager needs to stop attempting to impress by affecting greater importance, talent, culture, etc., than is actually possessed . I offered to shake her hand before leaving. I could not wait to get out of there.

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Hair Cuttery (Chester, VA) in February 2016.

    Interview

First i got a phone interview which they basically ask to evaluate yourself and skills, Like how well and confident do you fell preforming things like cuts, perms, color etc on a scale 1-5/10 on some. Then after she contact the manager at location i applied for and set up an in person interview. When i did that interview i brought a live model for physical part which was way easier for me cause i was nervous. I performed a cut blow-dry, perm, color, and a mens cut. After that was done i was taking in the back and asked a series of questions that all tied in to hair. Some were difficult some weren't. We roll played a few scenarios as well. Hair Stylist Interview

    Anonymous Employee in Lansdale, PA
    Accepted Offer
    Positive Experience
    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Hair Cuttery (Lansdale, PA) in October 2016.

    Interview

I applied on line. The recruiter got in touch with me very quickly for the preliminary interview. The only snag or delay in setting up my salon interview was that I was in the middle of applying for reciprocity to get my license recognized in PA and they require background checks from any state you've lived foe thr past 5 years. Anyways, I had a meet-and-greet with the salon leader on a Wednesday evening, she scheduled my practical for the following Friday morning, then offered me the job. I start next week!

The Salon Leader was very polite, warm, welcoming, and made me feel like I am apart of the team and their family, even though it was just an interview. I was I introduced to the staff. We reviewed policies and such, and as boring as policies can be, the made it fun!
