I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot (Boston, MA) in Apr 2019
Interview
Received an email from a recruiter after applying through their careers page. Scheduled an initial HR call with her for 30 min to go over my past experience, why I was looking for, talk about the role, and learn more about HubSpot. She then sent my information to the hiring manager to review and got a 1:1 with him for 1 hour where we went over my past experiences, why I wanted to join HubSpot and asked me to solve a small design challenge. I was then invited to go to an in-person interview for around ~4 hours where I met with a Design Lead, Product Manager Lead, Engineer Lead, and the Design Manager. I had to solve a whiteboard design challenge with the Design Lead for 20 minutes and a 25 min conversation going over my experience further. With the PM and Eng Lead, I had to talk about previous experiences working with PM's and Devs and how I had managed conflict and disagreement in the past. Finally, I had to pick one project to present from start to finish to the hiring manager.
Really appreciated the recruiter through all of this process, she constantly sent me updates and encouraging emails for the final interview :)
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why HubSpot?
What's your favorite app and why?
Give me an example of a time you faced a conflict while working on a team. How did you handle that?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot in Sep 2025
Interview
After handing in my CV I had a recruiter reaching out for an initial interview. It clearly stated that there is no preparation needed for this round.
Recruiter call was on the phone and quite impersonal with a standard script. The recruiter provided all the basic information you would expect from a call like that so I got a clear picture of the set up, team and company. I was then asked to walk them through a project of mine which came as a surprise, considering the ‘no preparation needed’ statement on the invite.
Overall friendly call but please be more upfront what you’re expecting of candidates during this interview.

Overall interview process would’ve been four phases: recruiter screen, hiring manager interview, portfolio review, and a panel virtual onsite behavioral interview.
I didn’t make it past the hiring manager interview but everybody was nice and quick to set up interviews and give feedback.

Interview
The recruiter reached out and we set an initial interview very quickly. It went well. Then, I met the hiring manager. He was very thorough and professional in the interview. The process felt pretty standard and there was especially good communication with the recruiter
