I completed a phone interview followed by a written interview. During the phone interview I offered to show samples of what I was explaining by quickly emailing them to her as I had prepared ideas before hand and was immediately shut down. I also offered her my digit in portfolio containing examples of what I had designed in the past and was also shut down. She acted uninterested from the start of the conversation and said that she needed to "hurry" because she was going to be late to a meeting. Then why schedule the interview then? The interviewer was cold and didn't seem to act like a person rather checking boxes off on a script. It lasted 20 minutes and I received an email that I would be moved to the next round. I debated about whether to complete the written interview or not from the way I was made feel during the phone interview. I wasn't sure I wanted to work for a company who gave me that first impression meeting me. I have been warmer to people I just met on the street let alone someone who may work with you. I decided to submit the written interview anyway. I worked 6+ hours and then received back that they had went with other candidates. After reading other people's interview experiences, I could see how they may be using the interview process as a means to get free curriculum designed. I could see that the phone interview was a way to see if I could do math then to be passed a written assignment to complete for their benefit. However, I am choosing to believe better.
