Interview
I was recruited online by HR and had a screening call with them. They were incredibly friendly and communicative and had a great system in place (e.g., very easy to book a time online rather than going back and forth with emails). Moved on to the next round to chat with who would be my immediate supervisor, and it was more conversational than grilling me with the same tired questions, which I appreciated. Ultimately, I didn't move on, and I believe that was because we had a conversation in which we were both able to assess each other, and it was clear that (through no fault of theirs) it wasn't the right fit. The compensation was substantial, but the work wasn't aligned with my interests (would be an excellent position for someone else).

As my background is not in the sciences, the first question was, why would you want to work here. I had a legitimate reason for being interested in the position, which led to a genuinely easy-flowing conversation.

On one hand, the company is prudent and responsible for recruiting the right candidate; on the other, this is the first time in life I experienced such an extended interview process.
