I applied through other source. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at J. Crew in Oct 2014
Interview
An ad was listed on craigslist, I responded via email around ten in the evening and had heard back by the next morning to schedule an interview. Interview took place in a Starbucks over coffee with the local manager and a regional recruiter. I wore business casual attire, but nothing from J. Crew. It was laid-back, both interviewers were focused and easy to speak with. Typical HR questions such as "What is the best customer service experience you've had?", "What are some of your strengths?", "Have you dealt with disgruntled customers & how have you handled it?"

At least for the holiday season, they contact you in the fall to begin the interview process. Pretty straightforward questions. I met with 2 of the managers. Company gets back to you within a couple of weeks.

I applied online. I interviewed at J. Crew (Santa Clara, CA) in Aug 2018
Interview
The whole process finished in less than 15 mins. It went very smooth and casual. Ask about my background and any retail experience, why do I want to work at J.crew and these very typical questions. I feel like if you present confident and nicely and chat a little bit helps people make a good impression on.
