    Director Interview

    Anonymous Employee
    Accepted Offer
    Positive Experience
    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Loft9 Consulting.

    Interview

4 Part Interview Process: 1st part was an interview was with one of the partners and was behavioral and culture fit focused; 2nd part was a 2nd interview was with 2 two directors and was skill and competency based; 3rd Part was a written case study; 4th part was a 3rd interview was with another partner that included 3 verbal case study questions.

All the interviews took place in very public places with lots of distractions but I think It was intentional. The process as a whole was very empowering and enjoyable. They responded within hours of each of each part. Everyone was nice and respectful. After my last interview I felt that even if I didn't get the position, I could still be connected to them. Best interview process in my career

    4 Phased Interview Process:
    1) Cultural Fit Interview
    2) Writing Assessment
    3) Skill Assessment
    4) Consulting Assessment (they throw live scenarios at you and ask you to give mock advice, the scenarios imply you should be ready to talk for 15 minutes or so)

    Interview Questions

    • They spent 6 minutes describing two different mock scenarios. One was a small business with 50 employees, the other was an enterprise scenario. They would give you about 10 minutes to ask clarifying questions. Then you had to advise them for 15 minutes (the numbers are per each scenario, not in total).   1 Answer

    Negotiation

They required a minimum figure by interview 2. In the final interview they poked at whether I'd settle lower, I held my ground.

    Consultant Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Denver, CO

    Average Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Loft9 Consulting (Denver, CO) in April 2016.

    Interview

The interview process was conducted in 4 stages: 1) in-person interview to establish cultural and personality fit, 2) written assignment, 3) in-person interview with a focus on practice area experience, highlights from past work experience, and depth of skillsets, 4) verbal case study questions.

Each interview offered opportunities for questions and dialogue, for the interviewee to get to know the company as much as the company gets to know the candidate. It became clear through the interview process that Loft9 sincerely values creating and maintaining relationships, as I was invited to connect on LinkedIn and keep in touch with the contacts I had met, no matter the outcome of the interview process. Overall, this was one of the most positive interview experiences I've ever had. Loft9 clearly sets a high bar for professionalism and genuine partnerships within their professional network.

    Interview Questions

    • The final interview questions were verbal case studies in which a project scenario or business problem is described, and the interviewee needs to describe their approach to untangling the issue / producing a solution. Some questions involve engaging with the interviewer as if they were the main contact described in the case study scenario.   Answer Question

    Business Analyst Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Seattle, WA

    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Loft9 Consulting (Seattle, WA) in April 2016.

    Interview

I talked to the recruiter briefly who set up an interview with a PM.

I met the PM in a cafe at lunchtime where the two of us only managed to hear each other clearly for around 50 percent of the time.
I was early by 15 minutes and the interviewer was too -he did let me buy him a coffee though as I was getting one for myself.

The interviewer somehow looked intimidated by me or so it seemed for the first 5 mins of the meeting.
He was eyeing my actions like keeping my bag and coat away on a chair suspiciously (for what, a bomb?).

Some interesting things which made me consider even during the interview if I was interested in the firm at all -
    1. He admitted that he worked as BI analyst at a project despite knowing nothing about it beforehand. He had a mentor who taught him BI during the project. Had he told me had trained on it but not worked on it I'd have felt ok but it felt like his firm lied to the client about his background to get the project.
    2. When I asked him about the important qualities in a BA that made a person a good fit to his firm as per him, his reply was that he worked as a PM so he wouldn't know. Why was he interviewing someone for this role if he doesn't know what he needs in a BA for the firm. Also, he did tell me that he worked as BI analyst -so what was that then?
    3. He said he was surprised by the noise level in the cafe -but lunch time in a bustling cafe in a very busy downtown -umm...not sure what he expected.
I felt like it was a waste of my time having an interview here and wouldn't recommend it to others.

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Loft9 Consulting (Redmond, WA) in March 2016.

    Interview

It's a joke.. They send a current consultant who is on the bench and has nothing better to do. The consultant obviously had very little experience if any interviewing candidates. She literally read questions from her laptop. She could barely see over the laptop, it created a barrier which hid body language, expressions, etc.. You then complete a case study (I quit responding to them long before this)

    Consultant Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Seattle, WA

    Negative Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Loft9 Consulting (Seattle, WA) in February 2016.

    Interview

The process is as the other reviews described it. There is an initial interview to ensure culture fit. Then there is a written test to determine which category you fit in (project management, process improvement, data analyst) and to view your writing skills. The second interview is to go over your background and skills. I can't comment on the third interview as I was rejected after the second. They have a 48 hour turnaround time which is really amazing considering how other companies drag their feet or never get back to you.

The consultants were professional and kind. The questions were standard and from a form template. Where I had an issue was with the environment. Both in person interviews were at a coffee shop. The first interview wasn't too bad because it was noisy in the place and the tables around had multiple people who were having conversations, so no one was paying attention to us. The second interview though was horrible. The coffee shop was small and the tables were literally a foot apart. There was only one table left so we grabbed it. The place was super quiet, and since the people on both sides of me were by themselves, they just listened to my interview the entire time (they stayed there for over an hour). I could have put my hands out and touched both of them. When you interview, it's nerve-wracking as is, but to have to do it in front of an audience, I was embarrassed and uncomfortable. I couldn't think clearly as I just wanted out of there. I knew I bombed that interview, so I don't disagree with the interviewer's no hire. What's unfortunate though is that I could do the consultant job really well.

My advice to management and recruiting is to ensure candidates are interviewing in a private area. If you want them to bring their best, then enable it by ensuring they are in a comfortable and trusting environment.

3 stage interview process; Stage 0 - a general 'get to know' phone call or in person session followed up by (Stage 1) a more in depth resume walk and culture fit assessment. Next (Stage 2) is a business case session and likely has senior executive staff involved. At this point there will either be an offer or recommendation to pursue opportunities elsewhere.

    Lead Engineer Interview

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took a week. I interviewed at Loft9 Consulting (Redmond, WA) in June 2015.

    Interview

Two people from Loft9 interviewed me at a Microsoft cafe in Redmond. I was applying for the same job I was already doing, so it was a pretty easy interview. I was going from one Msft contract to another. Questions were mostly about my resume, and geared toward process improvement and my leadership experience. The interviewers did not ask any technical questions, but they knew from my references that I had the technical experience as well.

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Loft9 Consulting (Kirkland, WA) in April 2015.

    Interview

Having interviewed with dozens of companies, I must say that the Loft9 interview experience is a cut above. From the initial discussion through the final stages, the process was painless and I felt like the interviewers were genuinely interested in learning more about me and having a discussion. Culture is a defining characteristic at Loft9 and it's very obvious the company goes to great lengths to recruit the best people.

    Interview Questions

    • There were 3 interviews - an initial discussion to determine culture fit and see if my career interests align with the opportunities Loft9 can provide, followed by a second interview to dive deeper into my experience and how it translates into what I would be doing at the company, and finally a third interview to run through a couple case studies with members of the leadership team. There were no trick questions, some behavioral questions and a good amount of resume-specific questions. The case studies were very much in line with standard consulting case interviews; take a moment to make sure you understand the situation and formulate a response.

The great part about the process is the quick turnaround time - the company prides itself on letting you know about next steps within 48hrs and in my experience has met or exceeded that threshold.

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Loft9 Consulting (Kirkland, WA) in January 2015.

    Interview

Very strenuous! Three segments that are all well coordinated by their recruitment team. The first was your classic 'personality fit' session where I talked through my experiences and asked questions about Loft9's culture. The second dove deeper into my skill sets and professional goals/ competencies. The third was the kicker - a situational interview designed to see how I think on my feet. Overall, it was a fair process that let me interview Loft9 as much as they interviewed me.
