The first phone interview started off poorly where all the recruiter wanted from me is a salary indication. We could not even begin the interview/screening until I gave a figure. I made it clear that it's not just a number but a sum of various parts of the package. The conversation border lined aggressive on the part of the recruiter.
The next 4 (!!!) rounds were from various people at various levels including the direct hiring manager, a colleague in the team, management of HR and someone how had nothing to do with HR (I think that person was in sales). All were quite positive except for the person who had nothing to do with HR, whose lined of questions were irrelevant and irritating. That interview added no value to the overall interview process.
What I only found out after the 5 rounds of interviews when the recruiter called me back to offer the position was that the salary to which I had agreed upon (a minimum) was not even kept. They offered less. I could have chosen not to proceed with the job offer but did eventually accept hoping it would be compensated in some other way....
