Applied via recruiter. First a phone screen and then an in-person interview. The phone screen had typical SQL technical questions (What's a trigger, explain a join, what's a cursor, etc...) and went well. The in person was a sit down with HR and the department manager and lasted about an hour.
Most of the time was spent listening to either how much money the department made the company or how much they were holding everything together that they inherited from the previous developers. It went downhill fast; by the time they got to the handful of technical questions it was clear to me it wasn't a good fit.
On call/after hours support every other week, a low-ball salary offer, and lots of blame for the previous developers/dba's made this a quick 'No'. Pro-tip guys --- It's an interview. Don't show up in a Marty McFly puffer vest.
