I rarely write reviews, but I had to due to the amazing experience I had interviewing with Splunk.
I cold applied for Splunk through LinkedIn and was reached out to setup time to meet up with the hiring manager. The overall call was 1 hour and she made a great impression on me with her candidness and also her quick understanding of the different projects and tech stack I had worked on. Expect something more behavioral here and I came out feeling like I just had an amazing conversation.
The onsite was next with 3 45 minute rounds, which I had requested on separate days to accommodate for my work schedule. Every engineer I met was really knowledgeable about the intricacies of the frontend. The interview process is tailored for the frontend which made it much easier to demonstrate my on-the-job skills and work style instead of how much I had studied / crammed beforehand. There was a mix of coding questions + general frontend knowledge such as accessibility, React / Redux, and Javascript. One interviewer gave me a super memorable React challenge that I've never come across in any other interviews and I appreciated that they could make such a formal situation fun and interesting for candidates. Come prepared to walk through technical projects you've done and your impact on them.
The final call before the offer is with the director. She was there to answer any questions you have and to make the final decision. She has a vision for the team and was always open and candid with answering all my questions about the company and the team. Come with your questions on the long term plan, projects, and impact.
Although you don't talk to any of the recruiters over the phone/virtually until you reach the offer stage, I found the process extremely streamlined. They have an amazing recruiting team with both Tom and Lynn, who were both super responsive or accommodating any timelines that you have. I had received an offer midway during the process and Lynn managed to expedite the process to the immediate week even with such short notice. Tom was a great advocate helping me navigate both the interview and offer process. He was always flexible and willing to hop on a call the same day. If he didn’t know the answer, he would do his best to find the answer or setup time with the right person to answer my questions. When my other offers were coming to a close, he pushed and was able to expedite the process for me.
Overall, everyone was very patient while I was making my decision. The hiring manager and director were always in touch and were willing to hop on a call to answer any questions I had. They all helped make a stressful process easy.
Although I ended up going with another company because of a personal career aspiration I have, I highly recommend interviewing here and highly consider Splunk as a strong option in my future career.
