I applied a couple of years back to UA with great enthusiasm. I went through seven interviews with various stakeholders most of them top seniority in Europe. As interviews progressed, I started feeling more an more that we were clicking and the job is going to be mine. So motivated I was that the final interview with the Region CEO was taken from a hotel room, during my family holidays. After the last interview, silence. I tried to contact HR, helas! hard to get. After more calls I finally get an answer that while I was a good candidate in the final two (both externals) they decided to go for an internal promotion. Not from internal IT staff but other function. WHAT? If you want to do an internal promo why put external candidates and top management through so many interviews? When I later found out how desperate the company is, probably they tried to save a headcount. But then again, why even advertise the role. Would not ever consider applying for this company that seems to have lost its compass.
