1st Round : HR contacted and ask 10 rapid fire technical questions -> how many bits in octal?, kill -9 signal, how to get all the instances of a class, what is the command in unix to find IP configuration information, inner join is what out of A union B, A intersect B and A - B, HTTP port number, SSL full form and its purpose, complexity of some search.
2nd Skype Technical Interview: the guy called me started with his introduction and told me about yelp. Then he asked: 1. Why yelp? 2. What is the challenging project you have done so far? 3. What were the challenges? 4. What technologies did you use? 5. What did you learn?

Main Technical Question:
Write a function that takes as input an array of words
input => ['cat', 'star', 'act', 'god', 'arts', 'dog', 'rats']
and returns a sorted array
output => ['cat', 'act', 'god', 'dog', 'start', 'arts', 'rats']
Leetcode style interview online via link, then a 1 on 1 technical interview with a lead developer also online where you can ask questions about the role and working at yelp, later more in depth technical tests and finally references and psicological tests.

Very intense. 4 back to back 45 minute interviews. One behaviour and four technical interviews.
Nice people but got the vibe everyone was happy with the work as it wasn’t too challenging.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Yelp (Toronto, ON) in May 2025

Around 3 different rounds with a mix of behavioural and technical. Last round features on-site which lasts the whole day, where there are 2 dsa rounds, 1 system design round and 1 recruiter round to end the day.
