      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Zenefits

      Interview

Phone interview followed by an in person interview with multiple on-site team members along with a pair of skype/highfive interviews with higher ups at their HQ. I was told my interview was at 8:15 and was asked to arrive at 8. I showed up at 8, and the lady at the front told me I wasn't scheduled to start until 8:30 - I checked my email and that of course was false, the interview was scheduled for 8:15. After the recruiter showed up, I was dropped off in a room to answer a couple of false emails from customers. The recruiter left the room, told me I would have 15 minutes to complete the questions and she would check back up on me with 5 minutes to go. She showed up 11 minutes after I started and was shocked to see me still working on the questions. Strange start to say the least. The next few interviews went well. Everyone in SF showed up on time, seemed extremely knowledgeable, and were on top of their game. I guess it's very difficult to duplicate that professionalism in a satellite office. I mean every single person I interviewed with in Arizona showed up late. When my last Skype interview finished, I was told I would be walked out at 10:30 (they knew I had to go to work, and hey just cause your late doesn't mean I'm going to be late). Nobody showed up and I decided to help myself out at 10:52. I would've been more upfront immediately about it, but was interested to hear their response on this. I was also curious to see how competitive their pay/benefits were in comparison to other offers I have. I ultimately did not get the offer, I figured I blew my chances when this whole charade went down (although they also lost me as a candidate at the same time as I found it surprisingly and incredibly disorganized). A recruiter later reached out to me and apologized for the poor experience. I was on vacation the morning I returned her call and was not interested in asking questions or elaborating on what happened (only reviewing so I can get free Glassdoor access). The recruiter was extremely professional, someone I would actually enjoy working under. Rating this a positive experience because it'll motivate me, I learned a lot of what not to do, and also for the professionalism of the SF recruiter. In the end, I still love the product and will use it for my next small business venture.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Extremely generic, maybe the most generic interview I have ever had. I'm not going to give out questions to an interview, just practice STAR questions and be yourself.
