The College of American Pathologists (CAP) is the premier organization of board-certified pathologists dedicated to fostering and advocating excellence in the practice of pathology and laboratory medicine worldwide. With a rich tradition of performance, collaboration, and respect, CAP's workplace culture aligns under the principles of PRIDE: Partnership, Respect for Others, Individual Accountability, Direct Communication, and Excellence.
The CAP is a 501(c)(6) membership organization recognized as the gold standard in laboratory accreditation, with nearly 8,000 laboratories worldwide accredited by CAP. The majority of the CAP's roughly 750 employees are based at the organization's headquarters in suburban Chicago (Northfield, Illinois), with around 30 staff members working at its Washington, DC office.
