    Pros

In demand products - easy sales & loyal customers Generous attendance policy Great discounts for employees

    Cons

Capital One almost owns the business now - credit cards drive everything including promotions, evaluations, etc. More pressure to sell "club" than to provide good customer service or have product knowledge. Even the store greeter's job is not to welcome customers but to sell the card. Lots of products that you can buy everywhere - not as special a destination store as it used to be.

    Pros

Loved the 45% discount on store brand items, really enjoyed 90% of the people I worked with, the customers were always interesting, get to see dogs all the time. Get to talk about the stuff you love. Yearly reviews were nice to have, as well as a yearly raise not that it was much but at least it was something. 30min lunch and 2- 15min breaks. employee of the month perks.

    Cons

The pay can be low considering you could be selling hundreds/thousands of dollars worth of stuff but no commission, the pressure to push credit cards and gear guards was annoying, dealing with theft and people loitering for hours, its only fast paced for maybe 5months out of the year but then the rest is terribly slow. The hours were erratic , lots of close opens for full timers. Not much room to grow if your full time , you have to wait till someone moves on to advance anywhere.

    Lots of Ups and Downs

    Pros

Johnny really does seem to try to take care of his employees. The store discount is great, although you would think you could stay on a Bass Pro property like Big Cedar or Camp Long Creek for a better rate (that discount is pretty lame). Overall though, there are great perks to working for the company, and being on the marketing team you get to work on some pretty fun projects! They are going to be opening a new health care center just for BPS employees who work at Base Camp too which is going to be pretty awesome! No place is perfect, and this place has its fair share of cons, but there is incredible potential here if some of the leaders can get out of their own ways.

    Cons

I can't speak for other departments, but the marketing department has high turnover. While there is lots of opportunity for advancement, people tend to leave and then instead of replacing those people they will give people more work to compensate for the loss and then if you do a good job with more work they will just keep you doing that extra work with no extra pay and just assume that you are doing fine. Approvals go very slow, and there's a lot of disconnect between the departments for campaign rollouts. Johnny cares about his employees and has a great vision for the company, but it doesn't seem like that attitude trickles down past upper leadership.
