Pros

Talented colleagues Fully remote work (for now) Industry is exciting

Cons

The number of people who had to seek professional medical help during or after their tenure at Bitso is in the double digits. The leadership is so toxic and they lack congruence in their actions. They say and pretend they care, they dont. The culture is a reflection of a CEO who thinks he is being curious, but his obsession with truth seeking is not only a distraction to work but comes across as arrogant and disrespectful to employees. Leadership is mostly incompetent in the areas they lead, at least a good 80 to 90% of them. All the positive press is a curtain to hide the poor revenue performance, which continuously leads to staff cuts. The list of cons is way longer than pros, but the biggest con is that Bitso is so toxic you are likely to experience burnout related mental problems that will require months of therapy. All your work will never be good enough, and your worth will be reduced to zero, unless you are well connected and liked by the CEO.

Pros

Design has nice people to work with.

Cons

Leadership seems to have no idea what they're doing, constantly changing direction without addressing the root cause. Roles are being eliminated, and those who stay absorb the extra workload, so burnout is a constant theme. Many ex-employees take a sabbatical after leaving Bitso just to recover.

Pros

Remote work flexibility, competitive compensation, and good benefits.

Cons

Leadership direction changes frequently, often driven by shifting priorities rather than a clear long-term vision. The company tends to be risk-averse for a crypto organization, with a stronger focus on replicating traditional fintech models rather than innovating in the space. Work-life balance can be difficult to maintain, with an underlying expectation of constant availability. Performance reviews can feel demotivating, as there seems to be a pattern of placing employees in lower ratings, which impacts morale. I've also observed a noticeable number of employees taking extended breaks after leaving, which may reflect burnout.
