I have been working at CEI full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

People do care about each other, and if you ask the question it will get a response within a reasonable amount of time. If you are unable to get an answer from one individual there are usually 5 more that you can communicate with.

Environment is challenging and keeps you on your toes. Upper Management communicates and makes reasonable attempts to try to rectify hurdles/challenges we are facing.

Managers are very open to being flexible with work hours, especially if you have significant family events.

    Cons

Training structure/ramp up period could be more formalized

    Advice to Management

Formalizing a structure to training/ramping up new hires could expedite and eliminate many of the growing pains.

    Continue doing what you do.

I have been working at CEI full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Baseline pay was competitive but benefits were lacking.

    Cons

    Poor Management
Health benefits nothing to write home about
Retirement benefits also slim... 0.5 percent match in 401k. Industry is doing 3% to 7% these days.
Sales sales sales, it's all about the bottom line.
Company apparently likes to review past tax filings and w2 forms to justify pay. Ask for documents prior to extending offer.

    Advice to Management

Provide better salary and benefits to employees.

    Pros

Good training, work/life balance, and you can make a lot of money. Never been a time when I haven't had something to work on, the days fly by. Philly office is moving into a new larger space by the end of the year due to growth.

    Cons

The 401k match isn't very good.

    Advice to Management

Go out to lunch with the team more.

    "Worst Company In The Industry...Period!"

    Pros

Local team in Denver has some great people who care about their careers.

    Cons

Awful corporate function. Starts with the owner who talks about relying on his 'leadership team' to run the business and then emails field leadership and individual contributors about their activity and if they plan to work weekends while he vacations in the Dominican Republic. Under him, is the other Co-owner's sister (nepotism at its finest). This person is one of the worst leaders to ever hold the title. Came from a now defunct company where she must have known someone or had some dirt on a C-Level exec to have climbed as high as she did there. Does not understand what is required to compete in today's tech climate. No customer investment, antiquated ideals, couldn't care less about the people under her employ, does not follow through on her word, makes empty promises, and simply just doesn't get it. I have never seen a more contentious relationship between the field offices trying to get stuff done and corporate trying to stand in the way. It is no mystery why the 2 major groups in the company are divided, both literally and figuratively. By far, the worst leadership and company I've ever experienced.

    Advice to Management

Advice won't go far based on trying previously and seeing zero change, but here is one piece of advice that may resonate: Get with the times! People do not like working for your company. Unless changes are made, both leadership and mindset, the company's brand and future will suffer.

I worked at CEI full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Smaller staff means getting your hands on more lucrative opportunities. Work with some big name clients. Laid back atmosphere. Potential to make some solid commissions. Metrics aren't as bad as the industry standard. Overtime isn't mandatory, unlike our competing firms.

    Cons

Turnover is alarmingly high. CEO micromanages and expects unrealistic metrics from new and junior recruiters. Ramp up time can be unforgiving. One bad month could mean you're out of there. It's mostly recruiting for Comcast and they can be very unresponsive or unreasonable with their requirements.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to train and develop recruiters. Allow for a more gradual ramp up. Don't punish recruiters for the obstacles account managers can't overcome. Focus on new business development.

I worked at CEI full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Paid on time, picnics, yearly holiday parties, Happy hours, quarterly meeting..
    Good Microsoft practice ..
Benefits are Ok, 401k plan etc ..

    Cons

    1) They will have you sign a non-compete if you want to work in recruiting, sales or marketing for this company and they try to enforce the non compete if you try to work in the same industry.
    2) will keep changing commission plan to benefit the company
    3) use and throw mentality.. for how long this company has been in business, very few employees have lasted more than 5 years , except the COO ( who happens to be the company's muscle man, /lawyer )
    4) only have 2 large accounts ... ( Comcast and WellPoint)
    5) CEO can be a bully, if you rub him the wrong way.
    6) H1-b consultants... run ... !!! as fast as u can, away from them ... you are valued only if you are billing ...

    Advice to Management

    Trust your employee....

    Pros

    Entrepreneurial culture
They hire the only best technical consultants and these folks tend to stick around (5 years average tenure)

    Cons

Outside of Pittsburgh company is VERY stingy on spending on the employee workspace
The retention of senior mgmt and sales role is low

    Advice to Management

Focus on culture and vision rather than short term billing.
